Yes, you could build your own website with Drupal and it may turn out pretty good if you have previous experience with html, CSS and maybe a little PHP. Most people consider Drupal to have a pretty steep learning curve so it definately not for the faint of heart. And expertise and experience may still be required to get your site to do all of the wonderful things that you imagine it to do.

The real question you have to ask yourself is "What is my time worth?" If it is going to take you a few months to learn the basics of Drupal, how to upload your site to a server, and how to add and modify new modules, is your time being well spent? Or should you just focus on your real strengths such as running your business or developing the content that will be needed for your website.

Just remember, you didn't decide you needed a website so that you could become a web development geek (like me). You needed a website because you wanted to sell, blog, or get social.
